Hip replacement aftercare using Method Putkisto

Two years ago at the age of 47 I had to have surgery to replace my left hip. After all clear from the hospital I was advised to do stretching exercises to lengthen and stretch my muscles which would then improve my mobility. On the 7th January 2004 I started doing the Method Putkisto programme twice a week. This was the first physical exercise I had done for over 10 years and I was amazed that after the first session there were no aches or pains.

Obviously there are some limitations on what type of stretching exercises I can do with my new hip, but there are so many variations of Method Putkisto stretches I can do, this has not been a problem. My flexibility improved considerably after only 3 weeks and I was able to bend over to put on my socks and tie my own shoelaces up! The benefits of doing Method Putkisto have been very rewarding and I have no doubt this programme will carry on helping me.
