PILATES was designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. It is a body conditioning routine that builds strength in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. It puts the emphasis on core work, alignment breathing, and develops a strong centre, and improves co-ordination and balance.
Pilates improves muscle tone, balances musculature, supports correct posture, and teaches to move with ease and grace. There are an increasing number of studies which show the benefits of Pilates in the rehab population. It is useful for improving balance, lumbar stabilisation and flexibility, lower back pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction.
"Method Putkisto goes beyond Pilates", Newby Hands, Harper's Bazaar
Marja Putkisto took Pilates further and developed it into MP Pilates. MP Pilates is more about the inner connections of the body.
"This is because Pilates movements were originally difficult for me to perform and I wanted to find a different route to the classical repertoire". Marja Putkisto
It is a finely tuned and individual way to perform Pilates and to achieve the full potential that Pilates offers.
Classes or privates are recommended: Marja is a senior Pilates teacher and leads you safely to reach your full potential.
Using the MP Pilates method, you will reach a deeper level: "even if it is gentle, it can be ever so effective".
Method Putkisto is popular due to its ability to enable the individual to work closely with their structure and redefine their body's potential. It uses the Method Putkisto teaching Method and varies the dynamic of the exercises in a creative and innovative manner.
"We work on several core levels allowing you to reach a fine articulation - and deeper interactive function". Users of Method Putkisto.
